Welcome to Spring Semester 2011!  Even though SFU DOES have classes on the holiday celebrating Dr. King, HiPS faculty encourage you to attend the following events commemorating his legacy.  All events take place on Monday, January 17th.

Letter from the Birmingham Jail Discussion

Join the SFU Philosophical Society to discuss Dr. King’s famous letter.  Raymond Hall Conference Room, 4:15pm.

Keynote Presentation – “The Road to Freedom”

A live multimedia presentation that touches on the stories of Sojourner Truth, Booker T. Washington, Frederick Douglass, W.E.B. DuBois, Rosa Parks, Fannie Lou Hamer, and many others.  CES credit available.

More HiPS news from France!

Last week, Saint Francis students (including several HiPS majors) taking part in the University’s Semester in France program had the opportunity to take part in a ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Every evening at 6:30 a ceremony is held at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris to honor French soldiers, including the unknown soldier.
